CD Wealth Management Returns to Sponsor Renowned Charity Golf Tournament Benefitting JCC Programs
Dallas (Aug. 14, 2023) — CD Wealth Management is honored to return as a sponsor and to volunteer at the IMA, Inc., and NDBT Maxine and Erwin Waldman Memorial Golf Tournament on Aug. 28 at Coyote Ridge Golf Club.
The annual tournament — named in honor of the maternal grandparents of CD Wealth Management Founder and CEO Scott Cohen — benefits the Joanie I. Weinstein Camp Scholarship Fund, the Elaine Quint Schrager Preschool Scholarship Fund and Jewish Community Center programs and sustainability.
In addition to financial sponsorship from the company itself, all of CD Wealth Management’s employees will serve as volunteers at the event.
“My grandparents set a truly inspiring example of community service, and it’s an honor to take part in this event every year,” Cohen said. “The JCC does excellent work for so many people, and our company is thrilled to contribute with our time, money and resources.”
The Joanie I. Weinstein Camp Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to those in the community who are not otherwise able to attend JCC camps. The Elaine Quint Schrager Preschool Scholarship Fund provides funding for capital equipment, toys and games, operating supplies and related expenses at the JCC’s Early Childhood Center.
Last year’s tournament raised more than $225,000, a record for the event, and this year’s tournament will exceed that total with $325,000 raised so far.
Cohen has served as co-chair for the event for 17 years. The other co-chairs are Clay Aaron, Bob Bowden, Sam Glazer, Neil Goldberg, Robert Solimani and Karli Ward.
Erwin Waldman held numerous leadership positions in the Dallas Jewish community, serving as president of the JCC from 1966 to 1968. He also served in leadership roles with B’nai B’rith, City of Hope, Congregation Shearith Israel and the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas.
Maxine Waldman was an advisor and volunteer with B’nai B’rith, a member of Congregation Shearith Israel and a 44-year volunteer at the Presbyterian Healthcare Center in Dallas.
Erwin Waldman and his brother Bill founded the Waldman Bros Insurance Agency in Dallas in 1949. The business was a family-run company that became a Dallas institution, and Cohen became part of the third generation to join Waldman Bros when he signed on in 1995.
With the blessing of his family and his business partners, Cohen launched CD Wealth Management in 2014 and has continued the family’s tradition of using business as a force for good in the local community through charity and service.
“It’s important for me to carry on the legacy my grandparents began,” Cohen said. “At CD Wealth, we’re passionate about supporting others through our gifts and our service.”
